Hadrian greeted by the goddess Rome, the Senate and the Roman people - Relief from honorary arch, detail

The relief, which comes from Piazza Sciarra, derives from an honorary arch located near the temple dedicated to the deified emperor and depicts Hadrian entering Rome (probably on his way back from the Jewish war in 134 AD) through a door in the walls, welcomed by the goddess Rome and the personifications of the Roman Senate and People. The relief was placed on the wall of the Scalone of the Palazzo dei Conservatori in the Capitoline Museums between 1572 and 1573.
