Painted Tomb of Tigrane: the falcon Horus

Detail of the god Horus in the form of a falcon painted on the right side of the niche. His chest is painted green while on his head he wears what appears to be the crown of Lower Egypt. The tomb found near Tigrana Pasha Street in Alexandria dates back to the Hadrianic period and combines Egyptian and classical elements: the wall paintings show funerary motifs from the Pharaonic period mixed with Greek symbols and rendered in the Alexandrian Hellenistic style.
