Detail. Ramses III, with his hands raised in adoration, wears the Nemes, an exclusively royal headgear, consisting of a rectangular cloth placed on the head of the sovereign, which was passed behind the ears, creating two bands on either side of the neck that fell on his chest (these elements are frequently compared to the wings of a falcon in the literary texts), while the back was tied in a braid that fell on his back. From the wall paintings of the royal tombs we know that the hairstyle was horizontally striped blue and gold.
