Detail. Ramesses III, with the eyes rimmed in black and false beard, wears on his head the red crown of Lower Egypt (Deshret, "the red") surmounted by two snakes Uraeus with the solar disk on their head. This headgear is attested from the Predynastic Period, when it was the typical ornament of the rulers of the region of Sais, in the Delta, and it was also the emblem of the goddess Neith.
