The Haramlek Palace is part of the Montazah Complex in Alexandria. The palace was built at the behest of King Ahmed Fouad in 1925 with the collaboration of the Italian architect Verocci. It became the summer residence of the royal family. Different styles were used during construction, such as Gothic, Classical, Islamic and Byzantine. The term Haramlek is Turkish and indicates a place where only women are allowed to enter. After the 1952 revolution, the entire Montazah complex became government property.
