The temple of Tarscen (Tarxien) has the largest concentration of megalithic art: stone blocks with bas-reliefs with motifs and representations of animals (goats, bulls, pigs and a ram). They were probably raised by the prehistoric population and their representations, as well as the finding of their bones inside these buildings, suggest that some of them were offered in sacrifice.
