Detail. From a blue lotus growing at the feet of the god Osiris rise four figurines depicting the sons of Horus: Duamutef, jackal-headed; Hapi, cynocephalus; Imseti, human-headed; and Qebehsenuf, hieracocephalus. The sons of Horus collaborated with Anubis in the work of mummifying the body of Osiris and became the protectors of the canopic jars.
