Sarcophagus of Amenhotep II: false eyes

The sarcophagus is located in the burial chamber and made of yellow quartzite. One of the two long sides has two false eyes generally positioned close to the head of the deceased so that he could look out. The yellow paint is reminiscent not only of the golden skin of the deities, but also of the so-called Golden Chamber, the name generally used for the burial chamber.
