Detail of one of the statuary groups in the Inner Chamber: the group represents Khaemhat and his wifeTeye and is carved directly into the limestone in which the entire tomb is excavated. Teye's face is damaged in several places and appears to be covered by a black patina (the burial was desecrated in ancient times and the patina is due to fumes from the cooking fires related to the period when the tomb was used as a dwelling). The oval of the face is framed by a smooth wig. This is wide and long and descends over Teye's shoulders to the height of her breasts. The body has mummiform features and the left arm is folded across the chest, in the pose reserved for the female deceased in burials.
