Detail of the pilgrimage scene at Abydos. On a boat without sails are seven oarsmen with as many oars; on the bow is a pilot, holding a long stick with which he controls the depth of the waters of the Nile; on the stern is the helmsman. The boat carries a chariot with spoked wheels, visible above the central cabin of the boat, and horses, positioned behind the pilot. A rope tied to the stern of a second boat (only partially visible on the left), towed by the first, is visible at the helm.
