Night view of the façade of the rock temple dedicated to Hathor and Nefertari at Abu Simbel. On either side of the entrance door, set in niches carved into the rock, are six colossal statues depicting Ramses II and Nefertari (with some of their children, represented on a smaller scale next to their parents' legs). The lintel and the sloping buttresses separating the niches feature hieroglyphic inscriptions with the royal titles of the rulers. On the left, in the background, part of the facade of the Temple of Ramses II is visible.
