Partial side view of the façade of the rock temple dedicated to Hathor and Nefertari at Abu Simbel. Two of the three of the colossi on the right side of the entrance gate are visible. Inserted in niches carved into the rock are the figures of Rameses II and Nefertari. The ruler (left) is depicted wearing the Double Crown; Nefertari is wearing the Hathorica crown (with bovine horns and sun disk surmounted by two tall feathers). The lintel and the sloping buttresses separating the colossi bear hieroglyphic inscriptions with the royal titles of the rulers.
