View of the back wall of the cella of the Temple of Hathor at Abu Simbel. A niche in the wall houses the remains of the statue of Hathor, of which the terminal parts of her tall feathers that make up the Hathoric crown remain recognisable. The niche is framed by two pillars in the form of naos sistrums, decorated with Hathoric volutes and heads. Right: the decoration on the side wall, partially visible, shows Rameses II and Nefertari seated on thrones.
