Oea door

Leaving the city towards the west, in the direction of Oea (Tripoli), one passes through the Western Gate or Porta Oea, opened in the late Roman walls. The arch, decorated on both fronts by cipolin columns resting on high pedestals, with Corinthian bases and capitals in white marble, was built of limestone blocks completely covered with marble slabs, some of which were decorated in relief.
