Statue of Kaemked kneeling

Khaemkhed was a funerary priest of Urirni; he is depicted kneeling on a paralleliped base with his hands crossed in his lap. He wears a medium-length flared wig, his straight hair rendered by evenly distributed vertical incisions; he has a short skirt with a pleated flap and a knotted belt from which four rows of beads depart; his eyes are set with copper make-up borders; he has a serene smile; the kneeling pose, not very common in the Old Kingdom, has a precedent in the archaic sculpture of Hetepdief, also a priest linked to the funerary cult of three 2nd dynasty rulers.
