Statue of Sesostri I seated

In a cache near the funerary temple of Sesostri I at Lisht, ten similar statues were found, depicting the ruler seated on a massive cubic throne. The ruler wears the nemes and a tight-fitting skirt. On his forehead stands the uraeus, while a long false beard hangs from his chin, both symbols of royalty. The hands rest on the legs: in the right one the pharaoh holds a piece of cloth, while the left is outstretched with the palm facing downwards.
