Fragment of a colossal statue of Akhenaten

Upper fragment of a colossal statue of Akhenaten. The ruler is depicted standing, with his arms crossed over his chest. In his hands he holds the insignia of pharaonic power, the sceptre and the scourge (heqa and nekhekh). He wears a nemes smooth at the top and decorated at the end and a false beard; on his forehead is the uraeus, while on the top of his head is visible the base of the four feathers of the god Shu. On the wrists and arms are pairs of cartouches inscribed with the didactic name of Aton. The facial features are characteristic of Amarnian portraiture: elongated face, almond-shaped eyes and full lips.
